- In Somaliland, the trademark rights are obtained by publishing a cautionary notice. Such publication gives the trademark owner an exclusive right to use the said trademark in Somaliland.
- The publication of the cautionary notice requires two things, including a clear copy of the representation of the proposed trademark and the name and address of the proprietor of the proposed trademark.
- Additionally, the trademark owner has the right to preclude third parties from using his or her trademark or any other similar or identical mark.
- If there is any infringement of the published trademark, the trademark owner can initiate legal proceedings against unauthorized use.
