Intellectual Property Facilitation Cell (IPFC) Launched by T-Works

T-Works, India’s largest prototyping center situated in Hyderabad for electromechanical, electronics, and mechanical start-ups – has recently launched an in-house Intellectual Property Facilitation Cell (IPFC) for the innovators to file the Patent Applications at ease on payment of a nominal fee. As an initiative of the Government of Telangana, T-Works aims to create and celebrate a culture of makers, hobbyists, and innovators in India by supporting hardware prototyping. Sujai Karampuri, the CEO of T-Works, stated that as the protection of Intellectual Property (IP) is usually a costly affair for the individual innovators and start-ups, T-Works is looking forward to lowering the barrier for innovators and protecting their innovations by offering affordable access to Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) related services.

The IPFC will help the entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, start-ups, rural innovators, and makers by offering hassle-free access to IPR services at an exceedingly high discounted rate in contrast to the industry rates to promote IP among hardware entrepreneurs. Furthermore, it shall closely work with the government departments and other partners as well for expanding the scope and operationalizing several IP incentive schemes in the coming future. While announcing the launch of IPFC, Sujai Karampuri said that there is a dire need for the innovators and inventors to look at IP related matters as much more than just legal compliance. He further stated that IP is the creation of an asset that will give them a competitive edge in the present fast-paced economy and help them in raising capital.

T-Works launched this service as a pilot project this year in August. After going through a satisfactory trial and understanding its need in the market, the service is now available for the public. The launch of the IPFC is bound to increase interest in T-Works, which is taking shape in the IT hub of Hyderabad. K.T. Rama Rao, the Industries and IT Minister of Telangana KCR’s Cabinet, has been counting T-Works among one of the state government’s measures for supporting innovation and creativity along with giving wings to the aspiring entrepreneurs. He said that within 4-5 months, the upcoming center of T-Works would open.
